Some studies even show that living in a cluttered environment can cause heightened stress, anxiety, and even depression. Beyond the mental impacts of living in an untidy space, your physical health is also at risk if exposed to substantial amounts of germs and bacterias.  Although, it’s no secret that keeping things clean is a bit of a mundane chore for most of us. Fortunately, several cleaning tricks and hacks can help you simplify all your least favorite cleaning chores. Some of these hacks and tricks include setting up a regular cleaning schedule and using natural cleaning products that are often more effective. But with that said, you won’t be able to get started if you don’t have the essential cleaning tools. So, we’ve listed the vital things you need to keep your home clean.

Glass Cleaner

Even though you might not think a glass cleaner is an essential cleaning tool, you won’t be able to keep your drinking glasses clean without one unless you are willing to invest a lot of effort towards cleaning each glass. With this handy cleaning tool, you can clean drinking glasses with ease, as it helps you reach into awkward spaces comfortably. What’s more, they’re also pretty affordable, so you won’t regret getting one, especially if you’re tired of always finding streaks and smudge marks on your drinking glasses.

Good Sponges

While every home needs a few good cleaning sponges, it’s also vital to know how to clean them properly and how often you need to replace them. To properly sanitize cleaning sponges, you must wash them daily in hot water and run them through a cycle in the dishwasher. Alternatively, you can soak sponges in concentrated bleach and water or vinegar, bicarb, and lemon solution before thoroughly rinsing the sponges in hot water. Furthermore, you must also replace your sponges every week.

White Towels And Microfiber Cloths

Next, you will also need a set of white cloths to wipe down surfaces and microfiber cloths to dust surfaces or wipe them down with minimal water. It’s also important to replace these often and sanitize them after use to keep them germ-free.

A Squeegee

Squeegees are exceptionally handy to have in your home cleaning kit. Without these nifty little tools, you will battle for hours on end to get your windows clean without leaving a single streak behind. Furthermore, they are also pretty cheap, and if used correctly, they can last a couple of years.

A Bucket

You’ll also need a nice-sized bucket to mix your cleaning solutions. This is essential when sanitizing surfaces, cleaning windows, and cleaning the floors. Opt for a bucket that can hold at least 10 liters.

A Broom, Dustpan, And A Mop

These items are undoubtedly essentials for every household. You won’t be able to keep your floors clean without them. But with that said, you must consider a few factors when purchasing a broom, a dustpan, and a mop. If you have laminate or wood floors, avoid spaghetti mops and opt for a cloth mop instead. Some brooms tend to have stiffer bristles, so you should also try to find a soft bristle broom to prevent scratching flooring, especially if you have wood flooring or laminate flooring.

A Vacuum Cleaner

Vacuum cleaners are great to hame even if you don’t have carpets and rugs in your home. However, if you have carpeting and area rugs, you will need this item. That said, it’s never wise to purchase the first vacuum you come across, as they tend to have different sucking powers, and some aren’t suitable if you have pets and need to vacuum up pet dander.

So, be sure to look around when shopping for a vacuum that’s suitable for your home. A smaller vacuum is suitable if you only need to vacuum dust from hard-to-reach places and quickly remove dust and debris from the flooring. But if you have pets, carpeting, or area rugs in your home, you should spend a bit more on a powerful vacuum cleaner.

Keeping your home clean is crucial for so many reasons. However, without the right tools, you won’t be able to keep your environment clean and tidy. Furthermore, once you have rounded up your essential cleaning tools, you should consider using eco-friendly cleaning products instead of chemical cleaners, as they are often far more effective. They also don’t harm your health or that of the environment.
