This means you have to determine the time you get to bed and the time you plan to wake up, and once you’ve done that, you have to stick to it every single night. Sticking to the sleep schedule helps train the body to get into the routine. In other words, by religiously following your sleep schedule, you will fall asleep and wake up easily at the right time.
Have a Nightly Routine
Aside from setting a sleep schedule, it might also be helpful to you to start a nightly routine. This is because your body needs some signs that it needs to slow down and prepare for sleep, and a nightly routine can do exactly just that. You can take a really long bubble bath, drink some milk, and read a few chapters of your book while you’re lying down on your comfortable firm mattress. Any activity is great, so long as it doesn’t involve any electronics. Cell phones and other gadgets actually stimulate your mind, so sleeping will be a bit more challenging if you browse through your social media before your scheduled time to sleep.

In addition to having a nightly routine, having a morning routine can also help with your sleep hygiene. Some things you can do every morning can be eating a well-balanced breakfast and exercising, preferably out in the open, so that you can get your daily daylight exposure. All these activities will energize you for the day, and they will also prepare you for rest later on.
Proper sleep hygiene is integral to our health because it gives time for our minds and bodies to rest and recharge. If we practice poor sleep hygiene, we’ll be prone to sleeping disorders and other diseases, and we’ll always feel tired and unfocused.
