Face oils, lipstick, and eye liner stains are all hard to get off our clothes. We love that they’re long-lasting on our face, but not so much on our favorite shirt! The next time you find yourself battling those stubborn stains, read our list!

1. Lipstick and Lip Balm

Scrape off any excess and treat it with a prewash stain remover and wash. If the stain is still there after washing, blot the stain with a dry-cleaning solvent and launder. Before you toss your clothes in the wash, make sure there aren’t any lipstick or lip balm tubes in your pockets. They can melt into the fabric and become difficult to remove.

2. Nail Polish

Nail polish is easily removed with acetone. Blot the stain carefully with a paper towel until the stain is removed. Avoid using acetone on triacetate or acetate fabrics, as it will melt the fibres. Rinse with water and launder as usual.

3. Blush, Eye liner, Concealer, Eyeshadow, and Mascara

Treat the stain immediately with a prewash stain remover and wash your garment as usual.

4. Face Oils

When your favorite face oil drips onto your shirt, quickly blot any excess. Treat it with a prewash stain remover and launder. If you don’t have any stain remover lying around, use a waterless hand cleaner to help tackle the stain. Launder the fabric on the hottest setting possible (provided it’s safe for the fabric).

Did you know that there are many uses for nail polish remover? From cleaning up your sneakers to restoring your floors, nail polish remover has proven to be a great cleaning product!

1. Remove Stains From China

Remove coffee or tea stains from your china by soaking a cloth in nail polish remover and wiping it over the stain. Rinse with soap and water. Make sure to avoid china with decorative patterns, which could be ruined.

2. Restore Floors

Get rid of shoe marks on tile, laminate, and concrete floors by dipping a cloth in nail polish remover and simply wiping the marks away. Avoid using on wood.

3. Whiten Sneakers

Wipe the whites of your sneakers with nail polish remover to remove scuffs and stains. Rinse with a damp cloth to remove any residue.

4. Remove Permanent Marker 

Nail polish remover can take off even the most stubborn permanent marker or any ink stains on walls or hands.

5. Clean Razors

Nail polish remover acts as a disinfectant, so you can dip your razors in it to sanitize them, and get rid of any soap scum on the blades. This way, you can make your razors last as long as possible.

6. Labels and Stickers

Remove labels and stickers from jars by dipping a cloth in nail polish remover and scrubbing the sticky residue away.

7. Remove Paint From Windows

If you’re painting your windows and you accidentally got some stray paint on the glass, nail polish remover can take it off. Apply a small amount of nail polish remover to the paint and let it sit for about 5 minutes before wiping it away.

8. Remove Leeches

Yes, you read that right! If you’ve come home from a nice walk in the woods and found a leech stuck to your skin, nail polish remover will get rid of it! Pour the nail polish remover over the leech and he’ll let go of your skin in an instant!

9. Welding Plastic

Acetone can fuse most plastics by simply applying a drop to the plastic and holding it in place until it dries. Great for fixing Barbie dolls who have lost a limb!

10. Keyboard Cleaner

If you’ve got a dirty, white keyboard and want to make it look new, dip a cotton swab in remover and run it over the keys. Take care not to get any in between the keys. You’ll be amazed at the difference! You can also use this on musical instruments such as a piano or white parts of a guitar.
