Use the Greenery and Indoor Plants

You would be surprised at what a difference a beautiful plant and a brand new pot can do to your space! Some of our most favorite indoor plants are pothos, yucca, aloe, Christmas cactus, snake plant, and the schefflera because they are super easy to care for and they also look so exotic and beautiful. Don’t overlook the pot you use to put your plant in. Go to your local décor store or garden center and find a beautiful painted pot that will stand out and act as a decorating piece in your living room. My mother manageed to find some beautiful large blue glazed pots in Home Goods that to this day we look at in awe because they are so stunning and make any room look instantly glamorous.

Hang up Some Artwork

A nice piece of artwork can work miracles for your living room. If you are on a budget consider ordering art prints online. All you need to do is choose your design, poster size and order! Then find a beautiful frame for your art print and hang it up on your wall. You would be surprised at what a difference a nice piece of artwork can do to your space. One of my favorite ways to tie in my decorating with my artwork is to then choose shades from the artwork and use those colors for my throw pillows, rug, lamp shade, and throw blanket.

Purchase Some New Pillow Covers

Sometimes all we need is some fresh new pillows with an eye-catching design to give our living room a whole new look! Throw pillow covers are so affordable these days that you can even find them online for down to three dollars apiece! Some popular prints today our geometrics, banana leaf, cactus print, and also animal print.

A Fresh Coat of Paint

A lot of us tend to overlook what fresh coat of paint can you do to our rooms. Sometimes it’s all we need to make our spaces look bigger, brighter, and refreshed for the summer season! If you have so far had a dark living room that looked small, gloomy, and dull it’s time that you change things up! Popular hues this season are off-whites and creams paired with furniture to match. Think earthy tones and bringing outdoor shades indoors.

Purchase a New Area Rug

Area rugs are an important part of decorating our living rooms. They make our spaces cozy, add color, and tie a room together. One of the most important things to consider when purchasing a new area rug is the size. When an area rug is too small for your room it can make the entire room look smaller, crammed, and not put together. Ideally all the furniture should be sitting on top of the area rug so this means that you should be buying a much larger area rug then the space between your sofa and television. A rule of thumb is there should be about 10 to 20 inches of flooring between the edges of the rug and the walls of your room.
